Here Raya takes the shot, behind is Luis (blue shirt) and Daniel with a hat. Luis is THE MAN, he is incombustible working on setting the new roof. Here they work on making the sides for the coming second floor door, we would need the dintel on top of it before setting the roof on.

Pilars are already set on their foot-stones and the blue packages is the thermal insulation for the roof, waiting to be placed.

Me at bottom, serving mortar to Luis on top. Don´t miss the "scafolding" he is standing on.

The seat for the top beam is being prepared. And the crane-truck swings the beam into place.

This guy is incredible, not just restless but also fearless. It is almolst 30 feet to the botoom floor.

Top beam in place, door finish except for the dintel, also water tank with fresh water from the creek above (white tank). The beams that Luis is sitting on are bound to be placed on top of the pilars seen above and will run wall to wall holding the first floor.

  • Hey Tim, we love your comments for sure, sometimes I feel I am doing this blog exclusively for you since I don´t get comments from anybody else... so I can´t tell whether they are checking it or not. If anybody is, hello! and thank you too.
The stuff on the floor is extruded styrofoam, 2 inch thick. It went like this: gravel 4", styrofoam, plastic tarp (black, Iron mesh, concrete pour 4-6". By insulating the floor I do hope to be able to warm up the house with minimun imput, we´ll see.
    WE DO MISS YOU TOO.
Too much work and no play is making Jenduardoya a dull boy (?)
We are loving it, even as hard as it is right now. I´ve been having ten hour shifts of hard phisical work for the last three weeks and Jen is been in charge of everything else at home (she also keeps a teaching job). The only one laying around is Raya, she looks good in the pictures, though.
At this point we have finished the first stage of the roof, with the joists and ceiling. Insulation, waterproofing and tyling is ahead of us, also building a chimmeny. That involves one more week to go.

  • It's beautiful. You 2 have done a wonderful job. Jennifer had a good teacher and is a wonderful student. Couldn't have done many things without her. Look forward to seeing your progress.
